Daphne might not be a tactical genius but she couldn’t help but notice that the monster seemed to focus it attack on some of them over others. Even though she thought she’d done a couple of fairly solid blows. She didn’t want to tip the creature off to her decisions so she broadcasted to all her allies using her telepathic powers.

I believe that we should leave this area and try to draw it away. Is there a body of water nearby we can draw it to?

It would help if they had some time to withdraw from the creature she probed the creature to see if had a mind that she could temporarily stop it’s progress.

Ulysses managed to grab ahold of the earth creature, and maintain that hold as he managed to pull its leg down and force the creature down onto one knee. Miss Grue sent her mental message out to her allies, as she tried to connect with the creature’s mind. But her skill with reading minds a distance was still unrefined, and her attempt to connect slipped right by the creature’s mind, but she was now sure it had a mind, that she could possibly attack.

Tsunami meanwhile pushed herself back up right, her body sore from the attack she had taken, and fatigue setting into her limbs. She had almost forgotten how effective earth and rock based attacks could be against her, the oppositional phase of the Wu Xing. But she could not allow her weakness to slow her down. She and the others were the only ones that could keep this thing from the nearby town, and the two glowing twins once again appeared to be down for the moment.

Climbing back to her feet as she heard Miss Grue's mental message, the Asian teen did her best to try to mentally reply back. The river is only a little a couple hundred meters away. Not a long distance to try to draw it toward.

She then brought her hands up and sent another blast of twisting coils of water at the massive creature, but the blast stuck at an angle and glanced harmlessly off the rocky hide of the creature.

The earth monster tried to pull itself free from Ulysses grip, but the steam powered hero held tight and maintained his grip on the creature's leg. The earth monster let out a roar as it was unable to free itself. After a moment's pause, the monster strained once more against the hero’s grip, this time managing to pull itself free as it managed to push itself back up to its feet.

Tundra brought the bits of earth with the two dazed young women down towards the ground and jumped up onto one of them and brought them back higher up into the air. So, how do you propose we draw it towards the river? She asked over the mental link Miss Grue had established.

"Graaagh!" Ulysses bellows in frustration as he feels his fingers slipping across the soft earthen surface of the creatures limb as it pulls away, somewhat unbalanced he attempts to at least give it a parting blow but he swings heavily and slowly as he regains his footing, not making contact in time.

Now no longer tied down restraining the mighty creature he makes for the bank of the river with all due haste, settling beside a moderately large rock intending to throw it to see if he can draw the beasties Ire  once he catches his breath.

A plan well yeah she needed one of those, best to go for the simplest plan she could think off.

Well if we back away then hopefully it will follow us toward the river. It got to be worth a try?

It took a bit of effort but she managed to touch the creatures mind with a hope to stun the creature for at least a little while.

Giang considered the Grue's suggested tactic for trying to draw the creature closer to the river.  While there was the distinct possibility that disengaging completely from the creature would result in it turning its attention elsewhere, but there was the chance it could still work.  Besides, once they had relocated, they could always make long distance attacks that might draw the creature's attention once more.

Very well, it is at least worth a try.  She mentally replied, as she turned back toward the river and starting running towards it.  The Asian teen was still feeling a bit drained, so she was not able to move at a full sprint, but she still covered a good twenty yards towards the river bank.

Miss Grue tried to attack the earth monster's mind once more, only to once again slip off it without making solid contact. With everyone having moved away or otherwise stop attacking it, the earth monster turned and started walking in the general direction of the town, creating huge craters in the ground with each step.

Clover's hands glowed yellow as she and her other hand linked with one of her sister's once more. A yellow glowing platform appeared a short distance in front of Tsunami. "Hop on!" Clover yelled. "It will be faster than you running."

Meanwhile, although she was bruised and battered, Crimson raised her free hand to send another blast of red energy at the earth monster. But her aim was just a little off, the blast passing a short distance behind the creature, as her hand shook slightly from the effort it was taking to raise it.

Tundra's hands glowed as the rocks she and the twins were standing on began soaring over toward the river, coming to a halt a short distance above its surface. "Well, so far it is just ignoring us now that we are not in its way or attacking it any longer." She called out.

Ulysses eyes go wide as he realizes where the creature is heading and quicker than he thought he could move he finds himself up rooting a rock on the river bank and hurling it with all his might towards the creature, missing by quite a margine however, as he is unfamiliar with throwing things in such a manner.

"its heading towards the town! i doubt they'll be able to get out of its way!" he replies to tundra "we need to re-engage it." he says rather worried, having passed through the town on his way to the plant he had seen it in the midst of a busy day...all those people, all those youngsters in the way of such a terribly powerful and apparently amoral creature troubled him deeply.

Well that wasn’t exactly what she had planned, obviously the creature had a agenda of it’s own. It was unfortunate that she seem to struggle to understand the creatures though processes. Hopefully they would be able to find out what it was doing, but first they had to stop it doing any harm to the people of the town.

Growing again to her larger size she chased after the creature with an eye to bring down the creature before it got too near to the more populated areas.

Miss Grue moved over and tried to trip the massive Earth Creature. But somehow it managed to avoid her attack, stepping over and avoiding her leg as it continued toward the town.

Giang glanced at the glowing platform Clover had sent over to move her more quickly toward the river for a brief moment, before hopping onto yellow energy construction. The Asian teen then looked back toward the earth creatures, seeing it continuing on toward the town and ignoring the rest of them. She wondered if it was because they had stopped attacking it that it choose to ignore them.

Deciding to test the theory, Giang brought her hands up as she shifted into a defensive stance. A jet of twisting coils of water shot out toward the earth creature, but her aim was well off, and the blast passed harmless behind its back.

With a roar as it turned back towards Miss Grue, the earth creature swung a massive arm at the Grue, the powerful blow connecting with her upper torso.

With Tsunami now on the energy platform, Clover began moving the construct, bringing the Asian teen over near the river where Ulysses and the others were now gathered. The part-Asian young woman otherwise just stood where she was on the rock Tundra was controlling, looking like a strong wind could knock her out at this point.

Her sister did not look much better, but Crimson once again aimed one hand at the massive earth creature and sent another blast of red energy its way. This time her blast struck true, slamming into the creature's face, causing it to roar in pain as it swayed, appearing disoriented by the attack.

Tundra meanwhile kept the rock platforms she and the twins were standing on up in the air as she looked on. "That may well bring it to us."

Ulysses wastes no time in surging forward and lashing out with furious power and speed, slamming his steely fists against the rocky hide of the monster to minimal effect "hey, we're not finished with you yet beastie." he bellows in response, his thirst beginning to grow on him and the somewhat extreme exertion of such prolonged battle begining to take its toll on him, he still makes sure to put on a good show.

<I should really see a doctor about this crazy thirst thing.>

The earth creature's powerful blow sent Miss Grue flying backward a short distance, the gigantic Grue crashing to the ground, causing a bit of a tremor for the nearby area. Then Ulysses ran up and delivered two powerful blows to the creature, causing it to roar in pain and stagger backward slightly.

Back over near the edge of the river, Giang noted how the creature seemed to finally be reeling from all the combined hits it had been receiving. Although it was still on its feet and not out of the fight, it certainly appeared to be feeling each attack that landed more and more. Determined to try to help bring it closer to being subdued, the Asian teen raised her hands once more, once again sending a blast of water towards the massive creature.

This time the blast struck home, hitting it on the side of the head and causing the creature to roar in pain yet again, as it jerked its head to the side slightly, and was slow to refocus. Giang meanwhile took a deep breath, as she pushed past the exhaustion she had been feeling, steeling herself to press on.

The large earth creature somehow swung its head back around, focusing on Tsunami, the one to have most recently hurt it. Letting out another loud roar, the creature started forward towards the Asian teen and the others still over by the river. It quickly covered the distance, bringing up a massive fist which it brought down toward Tsunami.

But the agile teen leapt aside, hopping off the glowing yellow energy platform she had been riding on. The earth creature's fist struck the platform, shattering it, but otherwise causing little other damage.

Up on the flying rocks held aloft by Tundra, Crimson still seemed about like she was going to fall over at any moment, but she raised one hand, sending a blast of red energy at the earth creature. The blast struck dead center, causing yet another roar of pain, as the creature took a half step backward, trying to right itself once more.

Tundra then took the flying rocks higher up into the air, removing Clover, Crimson or herself from the creature's possible reach. Clover meanwhile put up a force wall of glowing yellow energy, shielding herself and her companions from any possible counter attack.

Daphne gave a little sigh this wasn’t going well at all, in fact it was a complete disaster. But that wouldn’t stop her doing everything that she could to stop this getting any worse. but first she had to catch up with the action.

Jumping to her feet she moved as fast as she could to catch up with the mud monster going over options to try to halt the beast as she went along.

With the earth creature appearing once again dazed from one of Crimson's blasts, Giang took the opportunity to put a bit of distance between her and creature, while hoping to draw it out into the river. It was only a few steps to get her to the edge of the water, and the Asian teen gracefully dove into the water, cutting through it like a knife.

In a moment, she was almost a hundred feet from the shore, rising up to the surface once again to stand on the very top of the water itself. Turning back toward the shore, Giang brought her hands up in front of her once more and sent another blast of twisting coils of water toward the massive creature.

But despite its weakened state, the massive earth creature somehow managed to bring up an arm that helped deflect the watery blast away from it, causing only minimal damage to the arm.

Although it had managed to block the water blast from Tsunami, the earth creature was otherwise still reeling from Crimson's last attack. Up in the air, Clover opened a hole in the force bubble she had formed around the rock they were on. "Take your shot sis!" She shouted.

Crimson did not have to be told twice. The young woman still looked in pain, but had a determined look on her face as she aimed her hand once again at the massive earth creature and sent another blast of red energy streaking through the air. The last struck the earth creature on the upper part of its right shoulder, sending it stumbling a couple of steps toward the edge of the river, and down to one knee. The earth creature was looking much the worse for wear now, but still was somehow on its feet, mostly anyway.

Clover closed the energy bubble back up again as Tundra moved the rock they were all standing out over the water and further away from any easy counterattack.

Moving as fast as his feet can carry him Ulysses rushes in to try and press the advantage, however unused to the wetness of the terrain and his own haste cause his swing to go wide as he suddenly finds himself struggling to remain up right, let alone clock the embarrassingly easy target before him.

<ah botheration; Just Isn't my day>

he thinks as he manages to plant his feet firmly enough to keep him Upright and somewhat balanced on the slick muddy riverbank; thankful he'd at least managed to avoid taking an Untimely bath

Well this wasn’t going well at all guess  it’s time to get up close and personal. With a massive leap Miss Grue jumped onto the creature shrinking down as she travelled until she was only two foot tall.

“You’ve been a very naughty monster time to box you round the ears.â€

Running up the beasts shoulders she did just that striking the creatures head with her tiny hands.

As Miss Grue struck the earth creature, she found its rocky, earthen hide to still be rather resistant, easily absorbing her blow with little effect.

Down on the surface of the river, Giang focused back on the creature once more, her dark eyes fixed on it in deep concentration. Shifting her weight slightly, the Asian teen prepared herself for any possible counter attack, before bringing her hands up in front of her once more.

The twisting coils of water streaked through the air, striking the earth creature dead center. The force of the blast caused it to rock backward slightly, before it toppled forward, crashing down into the river and sending water flying up into the air and surging up onto the shore for a brief moment.

After falling into the river, the massive earth creature began to break apart, the flowing water clearly eroding it to some degree, but there appeared to be something more taking place, as it just seemed to completely collapse. Up in the air, Tundra and the twins looked over the edge of the rock platform Tundra was controlling for a moment before looking back down at Tsunami and a drenched Ulysses.

"It appears this threat is over." Tundra stated. "We will leave it to you to ensure that PanStar is not able to sweep away their crimes in the wake of all of this."

With that, the rock platform spun around and flew off through the air over the river and up into Canada.

Posted

"what a weird day..." Ulysses remarks to himself as he watches the rock slowly spin canada-ward before turning to observe the downed monster and the two young ladies "Well, i don't about you two youngsters but I'm too busy gathering evidence to chase them down." he remarks as he peels back the monsters mouth to try and gather some of its saliva in his emptied waterbottle "If there is something foul going on, should show up under a microscope no?"

Miss Grue grew to her normal size having jumped from the creature before it went into the river.

“Well we keep our word, and we promised to let them go.†Daphne struck a pose looking, she hoped, all noble “Besides I’m more curious about who summoned up this creature. Maybe there clues back at the plant, we should go look and ask them.â€

"I do not really have a means to easily follow them in any event." Tsunami replied as she watched the rock carrying the three other women head north for a moment before turning back toward the other two heroes and then the rapidly collapsing earth creature. "It is possible," she began in response to Ulysses' question about clues of wrong doing showing up under a microscope, "I believe it really depends on what might be behind this." She finished.

As he moved into the water to try to find the creatures mouth, Ulysses found that it was no impossible to accurately determine where it might have been, the creature was collapsing so quickly and being eroded away by the current.

"doesn't seem to have a mouth." he mutters to himself quite surprised as he stands up and examines the creature as a whole, "maybe it was something tundra cooked up when things started turning south for them...." he muses disappointedly "that would be such a shame." he says to those present as he circles the degenerating creature "or maybe someone else beneath the earth thought panstars flytipping was an attack...and this was the retaliation."
