Similar irises seemed to be right above where these people would have been wired in on the bridge. It may be that, once their bodies expired, an automated system dragged them out of the bridge and dumped them here. And what's here? Why, it almost looks as if there are some pilot lights inside. This looks like a furnace - on a ship that's powered by warp engines...
