Foreshadow drew his escrima sticks and attached them together.  Flipping it so that the grapnel opening would face towards the top of the stairs.  A blast of compressed air would fire it outwards and upwards towards the top of the stairs.  Cutting in line front of both the Detective and Terrifica.  Intent on following the sound of the scream.

Bit odd.  I should have gotten at least an inkling of an attacker.  Foreshadow was a lot of things.  But sloppy wasn't on the list.  Hopefully with the musician on the outside they stood a chance of pincering the home invader in.  He was fast, but that did a fat load of good without knowing which exact room to head into.  The only thing he had as a relative point of comparison was the odd sound they heard in the vents earlier.  So that's what he relied on.

The three heroes all convened on the right room.  Foreshadow kicked a door open, and Terrifica followed in soon after.  With Detective Divens stopping to tell his beat cops to call in the first responder request.  Following right after the pair.  Crescendo came in dramatically from the opposite end.  All of them ready to draw upon the invader.

What they instead found was the four members .  A mob movie, with the lead not so subtly based on the likeness of Al Driogano, was on the tv blaring at full force.  The lead having apparently shot a snitch.  On the ground was a man in his 20s.  Thin with a scraggly looking beard and an all white suit.  Now scuffled a bit by whatever knocked him to the ground.  They knew him as Evan Ritchey the all too spoiled son of Donald Ritchey.  Standing over him fist clenched was Donald Ritchey.

At to the side was Lisa Ritchey Steward, (the daughter), Dale Steward (The Son in Law), and Marissa Ritchey (Donald's wife).  Donald had two more sons that were unaccounted for.  The eldest had long since been disowned.  And the youngest was holed up in his room.  Not even entertained with the notion of exploring the source of his mother's screams.

On the outside BabyBrawler was standing guard waiting for the ambulance.  One that would likely need to be cancelled now.

Terrifica gripped the bridge of her nose with her left thumb and forefinger. A thousand and one choice comments flitted through her mind. They were all either profane, contained a variety of insults to the intelligence of the entire Ritchey bloodline, or both. What she actually said was “What, precisely, are you doing?â€, her tone conveying her irritation with virtually everyone in the room (Crescendo was all right for now) and the Ritchey males in particular. She was sorely, sorely tempted to make the ambulance necessary. However, she took a breath. Then she took another. “Your lives are legitimately threatened. There are people willingly risking their lives to protect you. Most of whom aren’t being paid to do so. And this…this is how you act? I’ll ask again. What, precisely, are you doing?†She shook her head. This is the part where someone uninvolved stammers an exceedingly poor explanation, and someone male makes apparent a severe attitude problem. How tiresome.

Crescendo blinked behind his goggles at the scene in the upper room. No ninjas? He thought, Darn, just when I thought things would liven up... "Wait a minute..." He suddenly spoke up, turning his head to the vent. "We may not have reached the chorus yet, but the song is far from over." Crescendo said, seeming too distracted to even bother deciphering his metaphor. "Did any of you hear anything odd a few moments ago?" He asked, looking amongst all present company. "Specifically, from the air ducts?" It seemed the family's explanation, and consequently Terrifica's prediction, would have to wait...

Foreshadow moved past Terrifica's well deserved admonishing of the family and began to look around.  Cescendo had raised an equally important point.  Every noise had been accounted for thus far.  The gun shot, the crash, even the womanly scream.  Everything except the clanking moving through the air vents.  The family infighting certainly did not account for that.

Leaving them not out of the clear just yet.  "That's...right.  The vents.  So here's hoping something doesn't go boom.  Rock, paper, scissors for who has to crawl inside?"  Foreshadow responded to Crescendo.  Joking on the crawling inside part though it did need inspecting.  Not even Babybrawler could fit inside the vents.  "You can keep giving them the mommy dearest treatment. if you'd like.  But let's make sure someone closes the window from Crescendo's entrance.  Rather not get shot from behind"
