Fox
GK doesn't know Arcane Lore from a hole in the ground, but what the heck, and the other checks are outside the DC limit for untrained checks!Fortunately....Knowledge (Arcane Lore) check, DC20 (1d20 + 10=24)....Tiamat is secretly a smart cookie and a half-decent magic-user. Avenger Assembled
Fox: Tiamat does indeed recognize this. It's an Anopheles - a monstrous race of insects from a dread dimension overrun by fiendish insects bloated to tremendous size and possessing unnatural hungers for the flesh and souls of living beings. They're magical creatures and diabolically cunning, and more than once some fool sorcerer has probed into their dimension only to have his skin devoured by swarms of intelligent ants and his blood fed to the terrible Brood Queens of the Anopheles. It's not good one is here! But how could one come here without a ritual circle to summon it? Link to comment
Avenger Assembled
All right, commence investigation! Link to comment
KnightDisciple
Gabriel is going to activate his super-communication power slot in his Array. But this time the focus is on giving himself 20 miles worth of hearing to notice any audible speech (which he can then understand) around his person. Notice Check: 35. So. Uh. That's a thing. Fox
Tiamat's going to start jury-rigging a ritual:Super-Senses 5 (Postcognition [+Tracking; Extra: Affects Others; Flaw: Distracting]) [5pp]So that's a DC20 check (10 (base) + 5 (jury-rig) + 5 (pp cost)), taking her about half a minute to complete.Knowledge (Arcane Lore) check, DC20 (jury-rigged ritual) (1d20 + 10=22)Huzzah!GK coughs up 1HP to supply the jury-rig with what it needs.Should grant anyone who cares to look into the past a chance to make Notice and/or Search rolls....the rolls for which I'll go ahead and do for GK and Tiamat:GK:Notice Check (postcognition) (1d20 + 15=20)And he'll just take 10 on the search check, for a check of 12.Tiamat:Notice Check (postcognition); Search Check (postcognition) (1d20 + 10=22, 1d20 + 5=9)Notice: 22Search: 9Blegch, those search rolls....If anyone else wants to take a shot, just touch the dragon to see what she sees. Electra
Fleur's been espering around in these woods, let's see if her skill mastery Notice of 25 will net her any information on people. Link to comment
Avenger Assembled
Fleur's use of ESP lets her see there is indeed someone running through the woods - not towards the village (which is why no one else has heard it) but someone running away out of the forest and towards the uncleared lands beyond! Gabriel, tapping in audibly, can hear the person crashing through the forest and gasping "Oh St. Peter and Legba, protect your servant from his sins, oh no, oh no" over and over again in mortal terror! Tiamat - you get this. A short, slender man with black eyes and hair that she vaguely recognizes as being one of the new arrivals is here performing some kind of magical ritual - it appears to be a prayer to his god Legba, the guardian of the spirit world. But something seems to go very, very wrong as his prayers are interrupted by the sound of insectile buzzing and the whining of giant mosquitos! Rather than stick around as some foolish wizards might, he turns and runs like hell as the portal tears open, calling on his gods to protect him in his terror! Link to comment
Avenger Assembled
Comrade Frost spends an HP and jury-rigs a ritual. He can get up to 5 PP worth of effects with his Skill Mastery Super-Senses 5 (Dimensional Awareness 1 [infravisual], Extra: Analytical, Extended, Rapid (x10), PF: Dimensional [1]) [5pp] Link to comment

KnightDisciple
Just let me know if any rolls are needed for that, but that's basically a fluffing of switching from Drain Toughness to Blast, FWIW. Link to comment
Electra
Fleur is readying an action to pocket the queen the second any of the bugs makes an aggressive move. Link to comment
KnightDisciple
I thought about just blasting the Queen, but I figure Gabriel has jjjjjjjuuuuuusssstttt enough self control to not do that. Instead, he's switching his Array to his super-Charisma mode. And then he's gonna burn a Hero Point for Ultimate Effort (Intimidate) for a total of 60 on the roll. Honestly I'm expecting this to initiate combat, but I can't really dice-roll easily while at work. So, something that I can do diceless wins out. Link to comment
Avenger Assembled
Let's see initiative for both sub-threads! Link to comment
KnightDisciple
Hoboy this is gonna be awesome. Gabriel Initiative: 24. Remember, Gabe's down 1 HP from his normal starting total since I burned one earlier for Ultimate Intimidate. So I believe that leaves him with 5HP at this time. Which is good, he's about to burn through some more... EDIT: AA, how many bees are backing up Gabe, GK, and Tia? Edited January 21, 2015 by KnightDisciple Link to comment
Fox
Gaian Knight: Initiative Roll (1d20 + 0=13)Tiamat: Initiative Roll (1d20 + 1=13)....unlikely! But alright. With the higher init bonus, Tiamat goes first. Link to comment

KnightDisciple
Ah, Gabe's up first in his line? Perfect, perfect. Move Action: Fly up to Super-Bee and land on her back, classic cavalry style! Free Action: Change Spear to +2 Trumpet! Free Action: Array to his high-Charisma mode. Standard Action: Inspire! +5 to the heroes and Bees! And to spice that Inspire up, here's a Perform (Wind Instruments) check: 33. This will leave Gabriel with 4 Hero Points. Link to comment
