trollthumper Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Cavalier, Eclipse, Rock, and Nae-Dae go to inspect a Khanate planet, and find horrifying results. Eclipse and Rock can take a HP for the fact that the Communion ship got one last lick in that's sending the ship towards Tarza's surface. With Cavalier's aid and some guile, the ship will make a soft landing... but it will still be a landing.
trollthumper Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 Notice checks for all! Cavalier gets a 15.
Gizmo Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 RockNotice check.: 1d20+10 16 Also, anybody can make a DC 15 Sense Motive check to get a more specific idea of what Rock is saying at any point. Also also, Rock has Binoculars; Super-Senses 4 (Visual; Extended 2 [1000’ Range Increment], Infravision, Tracking) [4EP] !
Fox Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Notice Check (1d20 + 10=12)Not so great!Super-senses for easy reference, if relevant:Super-Senses 7 (Analytical Vision [all], Extended Audio [normal], Extended Vision [normal], Infravision, Ultra-Hearing, Ultravision) [7pp] (cyber-eyes, ear implants)
trollthumper Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 What Cavalier and Rock both get: the gray stuff that's cascading out of the windows of buildings appears to be receding slightly. Not at any rapid rate, but at a pace akin to glacial melt. In fact, it seems to be diffusing into the walls of the buildings. What Rock gets: At the end of the street is a big tower that seems to be at the heart of the local equivalent of a traffic circle. And it's giving off somewhat more heat than the surrounding buildings. What Eclipse gets: The material clinging to the people in the street is metallic, obviously, but it's made of something rather dense, with a highly tuned molecular lattice. It's actually slightly cooler than the surrounding area, as if it's producing its own means of venting temperature. This kind of metal is beyond most of the galaxy's means, but you've heard whispers of samples of it for sale for high price on the black market. Compu-something, it was...
trollthumper Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 So that it's logged, I'm stunting Darkvision off of Cavalier's Flight, and spending an HP to nullify Fatigued.
trollthumper Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Notice and Knowledge (tech) checks for all. Cavalier gets a 9 on Notice and does not have Knowledge (tech).
Gizmo Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 RockNotice check.: 1d20+10 16Knowledge (Technology) check.: 1d20+5 17

trollthumper Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Gah, sorry for holdup. Rock and Eclipse both get that some of the images drifting through the air show life on Tarza as it must have been before the Communion made planetfall... and other images show it actually making planetfall. The images are out of order, but a pattern emerges - the tower they're in touching down in the circle, drones showering the area in nanotech, people being drawn into the tower or made to wait outside of it, kneeling as the nanotech rains down on them. Eclipse further notices that while these images seem to be relaying from port to port, little tendrils of them - thin strands of data - seem to reach up into a central hub hanging from the roof as they pass. Tech-wise, Rock figures that this is a big wireless relay hub, with large data packets effortlessly streaming from one terminal to another. Given the size and detail of this info and how effortlessly it seems to transmit without cross-contamination, this thing is used to running a lot of complex processes at once.
trollthumper Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Let's see if Cavalier gets what Rock is saying... Nope.
Gizmo Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Thinking Rock might just cut to the chase and spew magma over the hub at this point! Would that get in the way of necessary exposition?
trollthumper Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 The Communion can multitask. It's more a matter of, would we get to respond to its taunting and dig deeper while also trying to blow its face off? Which, maybe not.
trollthumper Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 I'm letting that one go as a surprise action, and, seeing as this thing is planted in the ground, asking it to make a Reflex save is a hilarious prospect. Given the wave of horrible things about to happen, we'll say that this is effectively a PL10 version of a >Greater Communion Drone - ATT +9 (+5 Melee, +5 Induction), DEF +5, FORT --, REF --, WILL +10, TOU +15 [imp 10], DMG +15.So, with that in mind, the Drone manages to withstand the magma blast, and we're now in Initiative.Communion Drone goes on 23.Cavalier goes on 9.
Gizmo Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Sorry, guys, didn't see this! RockInitiative: 1d20-2 7
trollthumper Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 3 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Unharmed, 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 3 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 2 HPEclipse is up first.
Fox Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Well, then. Eclipse is going to quick-draw and power attack straight into the hub, it being the only vulnerable-seeming thing she's aware of at the moment.Ranged Attack Roll vs. Hub (blaster; Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 13 - 5=17)Hopefully hits, given that it isn't moving yet (and probably flat-footed, for all that it may or may not even have feet). DC27 Toughness vs. damage if it does.
trollthumper Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 It's not moving and it's fairly low defense, so it hits. And it's Dazed and Disabled already. Welp.Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 3 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Unharmed, Dazed (Eclipse's Action), Disabled, 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 3 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 2 HPI will say that the Drone is still Dazed, but not Disabled. So, Hero Point for all. Cavalier's turn. He opens fire on the Drone, and manages to hit for +2 with Autofire. So, DC28 TOU. Which it resists.Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 4 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Unharmed, Dazed (Eclipse's Action), 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 4 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 3 HPRock is up next.
Gizmo Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 RockStandard Action: Unarmed Attack vs. Communion Drone: 1d20+5 9 That's a DC 30 Toughness Save, anyway. Rock's trying to kick a hole in the floor to expedite their escape, so if that works: Move Action: Fall through the hole...?
trollthumper Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Rock makes progress towards that goal.Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 4 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Injured x1, Dazed (Eclipse's Action), 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 4 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 3 HPTop of the round, and... we've got company. >Communion Antibodies, four of them. All Minions, all at PL9, and with no Regeneration. They're almost here ,and they go on 8.Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 4 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Injured x1, Dazed (Eclipse's Action), 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 4 HPAntibodies (4): 8, Unharmed, 0 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 3 HPEclipse is up next.
Fox Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Eclipse'll join Rock in trying to break the floor. Lacking his sheer brawn, though, she'll just try to chip at his cracks with her tail.Melee Attack Roll vs. Floor (tail strike; Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 13 - 5=25)DC27 Toughness.
trollthumper Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 The Drone takes another Injury, and is Dazed again.Eclipse: 25, Unharmed, 4 HPCommunion Drone: 23, Injured x2, Dazed (Eclipse's Action), 0 HPCavalier: 9, Unharmed, 4 HPAntibodies (4): 8, Unharmed, 0 HPRock: 7, Unharmed, 3 HPCavalier's turn. He, too, decides the best thing to do is to blast this thing. -5/+5 Power Attack, and still he misses. And up come the Antibodies! Some of them out of the walls, some of them up through the floor. One of them comes at Rock with its Autofire attack. That hits, and as Rock's Defense is DC15, it's a DC28 TOU attack. Another one comes at Eclipse with a Stun attack. That misses. Two of them come after Cavalier, both with the FORT Damage attack. Both miss.Rock is up next.
trollthumper Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 Also, I'm gonna need Sense Motive checks from all after the Communion's latest bit of grandiosity.Cavalier gets a 10.
Fox Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Sense Motive check vs. Communion (ECHO +5) (1d20 + 15=32)
