trollthumper Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Temperance, Citizen, Set, and Sekhmet deal with the CW and shock artists with superpowers.
Gizmo Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 SetGather Information (Well Informed) check: 1d20+16 29 What does that tell Set about The Guardian and its cast?
trollthumper Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Guardian has been running for two seasons, and just got an order for a third season. The show deals with Harry Langstrom, a.k.a., Guardian, a (surprisingly photogenic) forensic scientist with a rough past who gained superpowers after being exposed to a chemical accident. He uses his powers to maintain the piece on the streets of Seattle (well, Vancouver), while trying to trace the connections of the accident that gave him his powers, realizing it was no accident at all.Alicia Gemmen plays his on-again, off-again love interest, Sarah Fredericks, an old childhood friend turned aspiring journalist. The first season was spent with them dancing around one another, with Sarah's boyfriend-at-the-time Nick - at least, until Nick died brutally at the hands of Season 1's Big Bad. There's the idea that Alicia is giving her all, but her character has been nicknamed "(Ugh) Sarah" in fan communities, in part due to her bad plots (like that "turning to drink" one at the start of Season 2).Jennifer Alston and Henry Lincoln play Karen Levant and Vance Osten, Guardian's support staff. Both touched by the same accident that gave Guardian his powers, Karen is a cyberkinetic while Vance is a precognitive. They initially started as opponents for Guardian, but he managed to convince them to come over to the side of righteousness. There's a heavy fan community pushing for Harry to hook up with Karen... and another one pushing for him to hook up with Vance.
Gizmo Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Set Environmental Control [Heat] to counter the December cold with a little desert heat in, say, a 100' radius around himself.
trollthumper Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 And Notice checks from everyone! 26 for Temperance.
Gizmo Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 SetNotice check: 1d20+15 24SekhmetNotice check: 1d20+15 31
trollthumper Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 Sharl notices that some of the dancers don't seem to be moving to the right beat of the music, and actually seem to be shimmying across the floor with their moves. Set and Temperance both notice said dancers are trying to get closer to Langstrom and Gemmen's scene in a way that doesn't ruin the shot or draw attention from the AD. Sekhmet notices that those dancers seem to have slight bulges under their shirts or in their dresses, perhaps indicative of firearms...
trollthumper Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Yep, we're in combat. For Madame Marvelous, we'll be using a somewhat tweaked build. I realized my original build for her was in my pre-Cave days, and is somewhat... Kensonian. As such, we'll be using my build at PL12, with the powers unique to Madame Marvelous stapled on. And, as a reminder, here are those powers Enhanced Charisma 16 (Feats: Alternate Power) [17 PP] Alt. Power: Paralyze 8 (Extras: Range [Ranged], Flaws: Action [Full-Round]) Immunity 5 (interaction skills) [5 PP] Madame Marvelous goes on 11. Temperance goes on 23. Assume a group of 8 Minion Soldiers, as per the NPCs in the core book. They all go on 14.

trollthumper Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 All right. Temperance: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Citizen: 22, Unharmed, 2 HP Sekhmet: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Set: 18, Unharmed, 4 HP Minions (8): 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Madame Marvelous: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Temperance is up first. She attempts a Snare. Or not. Citizen is up next.
Avenger Assembled Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Citizen: flies over to the club's circuit breakers and EMPs them.
trollthumper Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 And the lights go out. Sekhmet is up next.
Gizmo Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 SekhmetStandard Action: Take 10 to Attack Minions, Power Attack 2. That's DC 24, using Takedown Attack 2 to get through as many of them as she can.Move Action: Demoralize Madame Marvelous: 1d20+17 30
trollthumper Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Not a single one of the minions makes that Toughness save. Madame Marvelous, meanwhile, laughs off the Demoralize due to her Immunity (interaction skills). She cray. Set is up next.
Gizmo Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 SetMove Action: Teleport via shadows to Harry Langstrom and Alicia Gemmen.Free Action: Be charming.Move Action: Grab the actors and teleport away from Madame Marvelous. This is usingTeleport 5 (500’; Extras: Accurate, Affects Others, Flaws: Medium [shadows], Short-Range, Power Feats: Turnabout) [11PP] (shadow walk; darkness aspect)and Set is seeing with Super-Senses 7 (Visual; Extras: Counters Concealment, Counters Obscure [All]) [7PP] (darkness aspect)Let me know if there's any reason that won't work.
trollthumper Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 There's no reason why that wouldn't work. Temperance: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Citizen: 22, Unharmed, 2 HP Sekhmet: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Set: 18, Unharmed, 4 HP Madame Marvelous: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Madame Marvelous recognizes that the odds aren't in her favor at this point. So, she pulls a flare gun from her dress and fires in into the air. In a nightclub with a sprinkler system. Which is also a live set. Full of wires and electrical equipment. And while the club's circuit breakers may be down, the production has brought in its own grip/electric truck so that the cameras and Klieg lights didn't overload Eclipse's breakers. Take 2 HP for "civilians in peril" and "villain escapes," because now it's time to make sure no one fries. Temperance, of course, is going to use Water Control to try and keep the water afloat. Citizen is up next in the effort to get the civilians out.
Avenger Assembled Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Unable to be brought down, Sharl stunts an Area version of his EMP effect big enough to reach the truck! I'll say he adds Action and Distracting to get the range he needs.
trollthumper Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 That should shut down the electrics on the truck. That leaves the matter of a bunch of wet people in nightclub wear about to retreat into the wintry night of New Jersey. Sekhmet is up next.
Gizmo Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 SekhmetFree Action: Shift to lioness form.Full Round Action: Attempt to track Madame Marvelous: Notice check: 1d20+15 21 She's using Super-Senses 4 (Accurate Auditory [+2], Acute Olfactory, Low-Light Vision) [4PP] and Super-Senses 2 (Olfactory Tracking 2) [2PP]SetMove Action: Environmental Control [Heat] to dry out everyone's clothes.Standard Action: Move Object to blow any sparking equipment to one corner of the club.
trollthumper Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Sekhmet is able to get a faint scent trail, but between the downpour and everything else, it's going to be hard to track. Set, meanwhile, is able to deal with the sparking equipment and get everyone safe. We're out of rounds.
Gizmo Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Did you want to post something with Madame Marvelous disappearing before I post for Set and Sekhmet, troll? As of the last couple of posts it sounds like she's still standing there after shooting her flare gun.
Avenger Assembled Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Sharl jumps into the phone and tries to grapple the bad guy on the other end! Does that work?
