Raveled Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I am looking for three to four science/history/mystic PCs to investigate a rash of murders in a small, North Dakota town. This sleepy burg has had its population double since the discovery of shale gas underneath the land, and this has created a lot of tension between the settled population and the itinerant workers; the newly-flush citizens and those who remain impoverished; the oil company's workers and a group of hardcore eco-activists; the sane and the mad; etc.
EternalPhoenix Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Would you hate me if I told you Terrifica was perfect for this?
KnightDisciple Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Hm. Well, it's probably a long shot, but Cobalt Templar is a historian who knows at least a bit about magic. And Gabriel's great at talking to people to root out clues, and has a decent bit of arcane knowledge. I understand if they're either one a bit too high-PL for the adventure, though.
Raveled Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 That's fine, KD, but why are either of them in North Dakota?
KnightDisciple Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 That's fine, KD, but why are either of them in North Dakota? Heh. Well, CT could either be following some historical thing or another, or catch wind of shenanigans or some such on his way to the West Coast to see Quo-Dis. As for Gabe, the only thing that comes to mind off-hand is either a motivational speaking engagement of some sort (Freedom League PR after the rather frightening events of the Incursion?), or some sort of negotiation or another (he's a pretty good diplomat!).
Raveled Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Okay, we'll say a local eco-group wants to stop the drilling because it's harming an archological site, and they've hired Corbin Hughes to come out and back them up. EP, any ideas for Teriffica?
EternalPhoenix Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 She's an obsessive investigator. She has the easiest in to any thread short of Foreshadow.
Raveled Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Foreshadow would have an excellent reason to be there, in point of fact. How does this sound: Teriffica is contacted by an Internet friend who wants her to come to North Dakota, to this little town, to take a look at the oil that they're digging up out of the ground. It's some really weird oil, and he wants a second opinion from a noted genius.
EternalPhoenix Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Dude. Mental Quickness 8. 500 times the amount of time to read, deduce, and think. Throw in a personality obsessed with solving mysteries. And INT 38. She's not omniscient, but she can seem like it some times. She looks into anything and everything. That's what I'm saying. The easiest in short of Foreshadow.

EternalPhoenix Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Oh, then forgive this tired soul. Let's go with what you've got, then. I haven't slept much in the past two days. Work, hurrah.
KnightDisciple Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Oh, I like that angle, Rav. Corbin could be doing it as a sort of work study program (since he's technically still in college!).
horngeek Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 ...I'm... tempted with Stronghold. I'm not entirely sure how to justify her for this, though.
Heritage Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Sorry to say I just saw this one; my phone doesn't always show stuff in the Welcome to Freedom section. Do you still need a third? Grim might be good for this, though we'd need to figure out a hook. Edited February 5, 2015 by Heritage
