Supercape
OOC of this We wont need much of it, but probably will need it. For starters, feel free to use below reputation table; Ill assume you make a judgement call about whether, and in how much depth (i.e. a roll, or taking the hours to take 20) you research etc the High Steaks and its owner Sir August Card Gather Information DC 10 Sir August Card is a Knighted Englishman, who runs several businesses. DC 15 Sir August Card owns “The High Steaks” in Freedom City. He used to be a diplomat, working for the United Kingdom Foreign Office. DC 20 Sir August Card worked in the middle-east as a diplomat. He is a millionaire, and has a clean, classy reputation as a socialite. He graduated from Oxford University with a first in history. DC 25 Throughout his career, Sir August Card has always been something of a gambler, preferring (suitably) card games. Whilst not truly Olympian in this field, he is certainly an expert. He does, however, keep his expertise close to his chest. DC 30 Sir August Card has a reputation as something of a superficially charming sociopath [you may wish to roll Behaviour Sciences if you get this far!]; like many businessmen. He is rumoured to have been involved, to a small degree, with British Intelligence at some point in his career, although details are classified. Knowledge (Business) DC 15 Sir August Card own several businesses, most predominantly, the “High Steaks” in Freedom City. Most are modestly successful. DC 20 Sir August Card has a reputation as being an astute businessman, although his main success comes from his apparent personal charm and networking. DC 25 Sir August Card has made several business contacts in the Middle East, and often hosted the rich and powerful from that region. His finances are always robust, and he has never come under serious investigation for tax evasion or fraud. The High Steaks Gather Information or Knowledge (Business) DC 10 The High Steaks is a top quality (one Michelin star) restaurant and gambling venue in Freedom City. DC 15 The High Steaks has an exclusive members club. Its owner is Sir August Card. It has five semi-famous “hostesses”, called the “Fabulous five”, beautiful, charming women. DC 20 The High Steaks club offers unlimited stakes gambling. It is joined by invitation only, although usually only the famous, rich, or powerful are eligible. The Fabulous five are more than just for show; they actually run the show, and are competent at it. DC 25 Whilst the criminal and the corrupt to enter the High Steaks (and its exclusive club), there is no criminal activity (known) by the High Steaks (other than the occasional card cheat). Members and guests are expected to be legal, polite, and classy at all times. Link to comment
Supercape
Feel free to narrate how you arrive, this will be fairly freeform. Flavour has a touch of Bond/Casino Royale to it. So there will be social conflict / danger, but not (probably) violence. Please please please, post ideas and comments here about where you would like to go, what story you would like to tell with your PC, how you would like to explore and progress your PC. I can't promise I can make it happen, but I will at least listen! Link to comment
angrydurf
Ace gets a 30 on gather info with well informed and skill mastery. Knowledge business for card is a 23 And for funsies Knowledge: Behavioral Sciences for the secret stuff at DC 30 Gather info is a 10. Ace only skimmed that chapter I guess, he preferred the one on narcissism Link to comment
Supercape
Well, with 10, you realise that Sir August Card has a brain! Just struck me I am not sure which PCs know each other, as either secret ID or public persona (you can go as both, or even in disguise), so let me know both how you go, and if you would know the other PCs. angrydurf
Ace is famous and not in disguise so probably gonna be known of by everyone and he's good friends with Talya and friendly acquaintances/occasional companion for Lynne IIRC they had a team up or two in the long long ago and have a large pool of mutual friends. He hasn't met Dol-Druth but given his history has passing familiarity with the Lor Republic in general. Link to comment
Heritage
I'll say Grim will take 20 on the two Gather Info checks and skip the Kn: Business altogether. Lynn knows both Talya and Ace fairly well, but she will be incognito! My guess is she'll make a game of trying to fool them, but totally cop to it if caught. If it's cool with folks, Lynn might utilize her mental link to converse with Gretchen, which might include Google searches and the like, but i don't see her sidekick making a physical appearance. Supercape
That's fine by me; I don't see it coming up, but fine if it does! Link to comment
Heritage
For the record, here's Grim's Knowledge: Behavioral Sciences check: 1d20+5=23 Wow! Well, it is her minor at FCU, and she was a Criminal Justice major at Freedom College before she transfered, so that makes a certain kind of sense. Link to comment
Supercape
Behavioural Sciences DC 20 From the history available to you, you can form a pretty good picture that Sir Card is a "primary" psychopath with Narcisitic features. Primary Psychopathy would not involve active cruelty or sadism, or even criminality, it is merely someone who does not seem to care about other people. He is bright enough to never break the law, but is, within those parameters, manipulative and self centred Link to comment
alderwitch
Talya hits a 20 on her Gather Information with Skill Mastery. She's going in her public identity as Natalya Browning, her actual identity as she doesn't really have a secret identity (she has a secret life but she's a former spy). I have her reputation tables in my signature if that helps! Link to comment
Supercape
It does indeed! And for reference, as PCs will be mingling about (as well as others), feel free to use each others reputation tables - I suppose mindful that you arent going to (presumably?) spend lots of times making phone calls! The well informed feat and knowledge rolls (As reactions) would be cool however! Link to comment
