Dr Archeville Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Nightrival makes a beautifully executed entrance, landing in a perfectly-executed drop stance. All eyes are on him. The Asian woman lets out a shriek, while the Hispanic woman seems shocked into non-action. "Willie," she pleadingly screams, "you said we'd be safe here!" "Don't you worry none, girls," the pusher says in his silky smooth voice, tunring back to face the two women, "my man Heavy'll take care of this costumed clown." Willie snaps his fingers, and the man-mountain stalks forward, and moves in to grapple Nightrival. Astonishingly, he actually gets his massive arms around Nightrival, and he begins to squeeze. Meanwhile, in the living room, Reflexion moves amongst the mostly-still bodies, and moves to examine the one curled around the busted television set. With no medical training or real experience with investigation, he can't really tell what's wrong with these people, though can easily guess that it is something drug related. Unfortunately, when he brushes up against/touches the one curled around the television, he immediately realizes something is very wrong, because the druggie turns to face him, his features twisted into a feral expression. He lets out a sound, a weird combination of moan and hiss, and swipes at Reflexion, though misses by a fair margin. Reflexion can hear the other druggies start moving about and moaning/hissing, too. Meanwhile meanwhile, at the back, Grimalkin begins slowly and disgustingly squeezing herself through the crack along the edges of the window, though she had to move off to one side to avoid crashing into a small table that was pushed up against the wall under the window. As she moved in, she saw "Twitchy Pete" begin looking this way and that, and though he seemed to be looking right at her in some instances, he made no indication that he had actually seen her. Once inside, Grim notices that the place reeks, of strong chemical odors from the bubbling equipment on the far side of the room near the sink, and from the rot of numerous old mostly-empty food containers piled onto and under the table at the window. She tries not to think about what might be on the floor. Manbat hurls his projectile to the skylight and swoops down and in... to find himself in a stairwell, which prevents him from fully unfurling his wings. He can hear some movement and talking upstairs, and a lot of movement and some weird sounds -- a blend of moans and hisses -- coming from downstairs.
Shadowboxer Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nightrival scowls. "Yeah? I like ta see him try - whoa!" Heavy moves faster than expected and Nightrival finds himself trapped within the goon's bone-crunching grip. His eyes threaten to pop out of their sockets as blood rushes into his head. He squirms at first, then he immediately stops struggling and relaxes every muscle in his body. Luckily, the drop stance has an unexpected bonus: as Heavy squeezes, Nightrival oozes out from under the thug's arms. He hits the ground and springs back up, slamming his open palm under Heavy's thick chin.
pookaking Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 The strange noises down stairs draw ManBat's attention. He takes a few running steps down before continuing his run along the wall. Towards the end he leaps and lands clinging to the doorway, his winged arms wrapping themselves around the walls. His eyes flash red and he bears his sharpened teeth. His blood red tounge sticks out slightly has he gives off a menacing and rumbly hiss. (Fearful Presence - Will save DC 16 for all within 30 feet.)
Heritage Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 God, this place is beyond vile. Grim reforms herself on the floor, fighting to control her gag reflex; to a normal perosn, it would be very unpleasant, but to a human with an enhanced sense of smell, it's almost too much. With great effort, she manages to keep her dinner down, and stands in the middle of the kitchen, her form still obscured. As quietly as possible, she creeps up on 'Pete' with her claws extended, and then gently lays them across his throat. "I think you should turn off the stove and put your hands behind your head, buddy, or this floor is gonna get a lot stickier," she says in a soft voice just above a whisper.
Master_Pelle Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Reflexion dodged the druggie´s attack and suddenly notice that they become more feral. So they become feral monster! It seem that I´m in the completely right place! Now I need to take them down. He though as he quickly moved against his attacker and thrusting his baton against the druggie´s face. He know that he is gonna be surrounding by more druggies soon and he need to finish it pretty quickly.
Dr Archeville Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Nightrival easily slips free from Heavy's massive grasp, and the uppercut-like move lands solidly. However, all it seemed to do was knock a couple of teeth out. Heavy tries again to strike him, this time with a massive backhand, but Nightrival's better able to see how the man-mountain moves and so avoids contact. Though keeping a wary eye on Heavy, Nightrival does not forget the others in the room. He sees that both women are moving closer to "Slick" Willie... but Nightrival's trained senes and knowledge and experience tell him that things are not quite what they seem. It's clear to Nightrival -- and obviously not clear to Willie himself -- that they're not moving towards him as in seeking protection, but more in anger. "You told us we'd be safe here!" the Asian woman spat. Nightrival then heard a THUD, as if a drug-pushing pimp had suddenly fallen to the floor. Somewhat worryingly, he did not see either woman throw a punch, or see or hear any indication of gunfire. In the living room, Reflexion is wading through druggies. Before they started attacking he did get a close enough look at the eyes of the one curled on the floor, and could see his pupils rapidly contracting and dilating. He knew -- from watching many eps of CSI if nothing else -- that contracted pupils are a sign of narcotics use, but amphetamines and hallucinogens tend to dilate the pupils. His baton makes a very satisfying THWACK as it contacts the Druggie, sending him sprawling to the floor; he no longer moves. The other five have made their way to the young hero, though, surrounding him, and they attack en masse. Many flail about ineffectually, still emitting that weird moan/hiss. One lands a solid blow... on the sprawled-out druggie, but one -- a teenage girl who had been pretty once -- manages to connect as Reflexion weaves right into her fist as he's dodging one of the attackers. Suddenly, a giant bat-monster appears, letting out a terrifying roaring screech! A primal fear overtakes the Druggies, and they all scramble away towards the front door, the pitch of their moan/hiss changed to a higher register. Four get caught as they clog themselves all trying to squeeze out the door, but the fifth runs to the window and raises his fists as if to beat on it. (OOC: Reflexion needs to make a DC 16 Will save vs. Manbat's Intimidating Presence. And a DC 18 toughness save vs. the one hit he took from the druggie.) When she layed her claws on "Twitchy Pete," Grimalkin could almost feel him tense up. As soon as she got her words out, he spun around, inhumanly fast -- he seemed wholly oblivious to her threat. He let out a loud high-pitched sound, a shrieking hiss, as he pummelled her with dozens of lightning-fast strikes, many striking her on the neck. (OOC Note: That's actually a DC 24 Tougnhess save, since he did get a critical on her.)
Shadowboxer Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Nightrival squints one eye as he looks Heavy up and down. 'E's a bit tougher than I thought. He braces his arm for another strike when he hears the women screaming at Willie, followed by a someone hitting the floor rather heavily. Willie is scum, but oddly enough he's valuable scum. If Nightrival can exert enough pressure on the crook, he could become a key informant for the vigilante. Willie is no good ta me dead, he decides. Besides, Nightrival is no killer. He swore a long time ago that no one will die by his hand or by his negligence, even if they're despicable criminals like Willie. What th' heck did they do ta 'im? Pepper spray? He jumps up and somersaults over the hulking thug, with one hand on Heavy's shoulder like a vaulting horse. Dropping between Willie and his assailants, Nightrival draws up his fists like a seasoned boxer. "Get outta 'ere!" he snarls at the two women.
Heritage Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 The furious assault catches Grim completely off-guard as the barrage of blows lands about her face and neck, leaving her reeling. She barely has the awareness to try and block the strikes, but finally her arms rise up reflexively to protect her face, though far too late to do any good. Only one clear thought rattles around in her ringing head. I knew I should have thrown a little Angelina Jolie into that speech.
Master_Pelle Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Reflexion got a nasty bruise on his left arm even he is wearing his armored jumpsuit. As he tried to continue fighting, he suddenly saw the humanoid bat creature barging in and giving out fearful presence so that everybody was scared. He could feel the light shake on his arms. Pulling by his fear, he throw his baton at Man-Bat.
pookaking Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Manbat wasn't surprised by the attack. He had come to realize most people, even supposed heroes, would think the worse of him because of his monsterous appearance. Still, that didn't keep him from being irritated by the attack. Nor did it dull the pain any as the baton struck him hard in the shoulder. Manbat hissed and leapt. He aimed for the junky Reflexation was tussling with. As soon as he left the wall though, he could tell his aim was off. He hoped to show that by tackling a common foe they were on the same side. The pain in his shoulder and the confines of the house were throwing him off his game. "Pick your enemies wiser, gringo! I'm on your side," he said with a grumbling growl.
Dr Archeville Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Nightrival easily clears Heavy's grasp and lands between Willie's prone form and the two girls. The Hispanic woman bolts, but the Asian woman does not. At least, he's pretty sure she doesn't. It's somewhat hard to tel with the intense burst of purplish light coming off her, and the thunder-like clap accompanying it. Over the sound of the... whatever, Nightrival could just make out a loud roar from Heavy, who seemed to be getting the full brunt of it. [[ Reflex save, please, DC 18. ]] Bruised and more than a bit unnerved by the hideous giant bat monster, Reflexion throws his baton at it... and strikes true! Langstrom wasn't surprised at the attack, but was surprised to find he was able to slam into the running-away druggie. However, by the time ManBat had connected, the druggies were already outside -- he four at the door had pushed their way through, and the one at the window had smashed it and clambered out -- so when ManBat slammed into the girl that battered Reflexion's arm, they were all in open air. As this is going on, Reflexion manages to catch sight of a fairly beautiful Hispanic woman running down the stairs. She sees him at almost the exact same instant, and suddenly the bruise on his left arm feels infinitely worse, as if his arm were broken and then set on fire. [[ ManBat must make a DC 19 Toughness save vs. Reflexion's thrown baton. ManBat hit the girl, but the description of his attack makes it unclear to me if he's using his claws/Strike or not. Based on my roll, if he's not, she's still up, but if he is, she's down (and bleeding/possibly dying). Reflexion needs to make a Will save, DC 20. ]] Grim tries to brace herself for another assault, and one does indeed come, though the blows are not as concentrated, not as focused on her neck. They do come just as rapidly, though, and 'Twitchy' Pete's still making that weird high-pitched hissing sound. [[ DC 19 Toughness save, please ]]
Shadowboxer Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Nightrival notices the purple light glowing from where the woman is standing. When someone starts radiating light in Freedom City, especially inside a run-down house used to sell illicit drugs, the vigilante knows that he has to get out of the way, and fast! He dives under the bed and waits for the light to dim, then rolls out from the other side. Returning to his feet, Nightrival stands with his fists ready, looking in the direction of the woman. He tries to see how Heavy fared from the corner of his eye. "I dunno wha's that all 'bout but this ends 'ere!"
Shadowboxer Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Nightrival grins devilishly when he spots Heavy stumbling around the room. With only one woman remaining he's confident Willie is out of danger, and he disregards her presence to capitalize on this welcome development. That is, of course, if the glowing woman is still inside the room. The bright light momentarily cloud Nightrival's senses; she could be waiting for her moment to attack. He cartwheels over the bed, using it's creaking springs to add momentum, then stops in front of the monstrous goon. He twists his entire body sideways and his feet spin in a wide circle, landing a swift butterfly kick across Heavy's temple.
Heritage Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Thankfully Grim is ready this time when Pete again lashes out, and easily fends off his attack. Deciding she'd rather not be clubbed in the face anymore, the young heroine fades to nothingness and quickly backs away into a corner of the kitchen, waiting to see the drug-addled cook's next move.
pookaking Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Not knowing about the trouble inside facing Reflexation, ManBat is content to cling to the outside of the house. He watches as the druggies scatter, making sure none of them have a sudden burst of courage that would cause them to return. He knew there was yet another masked man upstair, most likely facing enemies of his own. He waited and puzzled out what to do next. I'll give the hothead some time to calm himself down...steady his nerves, he thinks, not keen on getting hit with another baton. (OOC: Right now he doesn't do much of anything other than look, listen, and try to figure out what exactly the situation is and where he is needed most. Will use total defense if attacked)
Master_Pelle Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 Reflexion screamed in pain as he feel the powerful mind shock and he finally realize who it was. It was Targette, a agent from Labyrinth who he have worked with before when he was known as Deathbringer.
Dr Archeville Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Heavy turns -- seemingly wholly by chance as he blunders about -- in such a way that Nightrival's kick hits him square in the forehead, rather than the temple as the vigilante had intended. Due to the change in angle, and the differing relative toughness of the hit location, Heavy doesn't even seem to register the attack. "C'mere, ya lil'-!" Heavy says as he tries to grab for Nightrival, but instead hits a lamp. It is clear that he's still totally blind and deaf. Reflexion, barely able to see due to his eyes squeezing shut from pain, finds himself almost completely paralyzed with pain. Knowing who attacked him makes the situation somewhat worse, as he knows exactly how deadly ruthless she can be. Targette saunters down the stairs, a "cat's got the mouse" smile forming across her lips. She looks down at Reflexion, then looks around, and sees the fleeing druggies. She then turns back to Reflexion, looks him over as if trying to make up her mind on something... then Reflexion feels another spike in his arm and brain. Outside, ManBat watches the five Druggies bolt, but suddenly two turn around and start heading back towards the house. Oddly, they don't run back, they just kinda... mosey. Suddenly, he hears Reflexion (gurgle/moan/scream/yelp) in pain from inside the house, soon followed by the sound of... a toy helicopter? [[ OOC: Reflexion can try and make a DC 16 Will save to shake off ManBat's fearsome presence. He can also try and make a DC 20 Will save against Targette's mental blast.]] Grim fades from sight, but 'Twitchy Pete' continues rapidly battering at the air for a few moments. Then his head jerks up and he looks about, moving so fast she was sure his neck would snap. He then begins whirling like a dervish once around the kitchen, then whirls off through the two-way swinging door into the next room. As the door swings back shut, Grim can just make out that there's at least one other person in the room.
Shadowboxer Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 "Ya gotta catch me first, big guy," replies Nightrival. He swears he heard an inhuman sound emanating from outside, like a loud screech from some kind of animal. Was it related to the monstrous flying creature he saw earlier? He will have to check outside to see what the noise is all about, as soon as he drops Heavy and he's certain Willie is unharmed. He continues to disregard the glowing woman though he remembers he must deal with her soon enough. So far, she hasn't made another move. He wonders if she's even there at all. Nightrival slides to his right to avoid Heavy's massive hands. 'E's too juiced up ta 'urt; I'm gonna hafta use a little more force. He waits for a few seconds to draw strength into himself then unleashes the energy through a solid side kick aimed directly at Heavy's chest.
Master_Pelle Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 He could still feel the fear and pain but but inside of himself told him not to give up and he real want to put down the Labyrinth once for all. Through his will, he finally shaking of both of his fear and pain. Through his experience with working with Targette, she need a sight of his target and her powers grow stronger when somebody hurt her. The best plan is to hide himself and knocking her out without hurting her. With his best effort, he tried to move into the cover where she can longer see him. (OOC: I´m tried to moved in for full cover.)
pookaking Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Manbat's lips curled back as two of the druggies turned back around. He kicked off the side of the wall and took to the air with hardly a sound. A few flaps took him closer to the mook, and for a moment it looked almost as if he was going to dive face first into one. Suddnely with a large powerful flap of his gray wings, his forward momentum stopped and he gained a few feat in altitude. For a minute he just hung there in mid air. He opened his toothy maw and let loose a deafening blast towards one of the men.
Heritage Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 As quiet as a somewhat injured invisible mouse, Grim sneaks over to the two-way door and nervously peeks into the other room, ready to leap out of the way if someone notices the movement and comes charging at the door.
Dr Archeville Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 With the anger/fear of Targette replacing the fear of the giant bat-monster, Reflexion scrambled to get behind something, anything, that could block Targette's view of him. The only two things in the room remotely usable for such were the broken television set and the cigarette-burned sofa, though both would need to be moved from against the walls to work for him. There was another option, leaving the room altogether... but as he was forming this idea, a whirling dervish of a man burst in from the adjoining room, spinning madly and emitting a high-pitched squealing shriek. This distracted Targette enough for Reflexion to stagger out the front door and a few feet off to the side, out of her view. Where he soon sees two of the Druggies have started coming back to the crackhouse. Though, oddly, they're not running, just sorta... moseying. Reflexion tried to crouch down in the shadows near the front corner of the house, trying not to make any sound form the extreme pain he was still in, though he realized any sound he made would be muffled by th deafening shriek of the man-bat creature flying overhead. With some relief he found that his body still moved with the grace of the martial artists he'd seen recently. Targette soon emerged from the house, angrily looking this way and that, but she could not spot him. Then she looked to the skies, and saw the man-bat. Nighrival's kick lands solidly against Heavy, which his him right in the solar plexus and leaves him doubled over, but still standing. This leaves him very open to being grappled by the vigilante, who takes the opportunity. "Oof, I'm seein' stars... hey, I can see! Ohhhh...." As Grimalkin peers out through the crack along the two-way door leading from the kitchen to he living room, a flash of purple light seen just form the corner of her eye catches her attention. She sees that a fairly attractive woman of indeterminate Asian ancestry has appeared, dressed like a higher-end "escort" but carrying a fairly large duffle bag. She seems busy snatching up various vials from 'Twitchy' Pete's 'lab,' including some things from the refrigerator. ManBat lets loose a shriek, and concentrated soundwaves slam into one of the two Druggies ambling back towards the crackhouse. He falls, clutching his ears as he curls into a fetal position. Suddenly, ManBat feels like shrieking again, this time due to intense pain! (OOC: Please to make a DC 20 Will save.)
Shadowboxer Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 "Oof, I'm seein' stars... hey, I can see! Ohhhh...." "I glad ya can finally see, big guy," replies Nightrival. "I wouldn't want ya ta miss th' show." He snags Heavy's dangling arm and twists it behind the thug's back, and then deftly slides behind the battered man. Nightrival leans back, falls to the ground then tucks his feet under Heavy. Without delay, he uses his legs to shove the goon out the broken window.
pookaking Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ManBat was thrown by the sudden attack. He wasn't expecting a blast of...what was it sound? Did she use the same attack that he was capable of? ManBat considered his options, {i}The junkies...no real threat. That buzzing sound...tn threat yet. That noisy chick that just blasted me.... With a toothy grin ManBat performed a clumsy looking turn and dove for the woman. He let out a terrorizing sound, a mix of a high pitch cry and a light growl. As he approached he reached for her with large clawed feet. Now was no time to be gentle... OOC: Attack (claw) and grab + Move-by attack. Flys over, attempts to grab her and carry her away (into the air)
Heritage Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 As Grimalkin peers out through the crack along the two-way door leading from the kitchen to he living room, a flash of purple light seen just form the corner of her eye catches her attention. This has not been Grim's best day of crimefighting; she's sore, hasn't been doing too well with the fisticuffs and can't even drop a pathetic druggie. Now she has a target with her back to her, but she's not even sure what her powers are or if she can take her. Hmm, might be time to bluff. Grim drops her camouflage and tries something a little daring; a few months back, she'd met Foreshadow (or at least a version of him) during the endless night she met her boyfriend. If she could pull this off... Suddenly 'Foreshadow' takes a step forward and speaks in his most menacing voice. "That's a lot of evidence you're swiping; maybe you should have brought a bigger bag."
