Okay.

From what she remembers, it's a symbol commonly used for Wards, to keep things, in most cases Magical Creatures or Spirits, away from something. However, judging by the status the symbol is in, it's probably not handling that very well anymore. These symbols are commonly used as a chain fo sorts, with many small ones making up a full spell, so it might not matter.

Okay, Initative chart then:

Rosethorn shall spend a hero point to power stunt Extended Reach on her Toxic Thorns. She now has bunch of sharp spiky vines to keep her out of range of that aura.

 

Rolling: 22

 

If it hits, that is a DC25 Toughness check on top of a DC20 Will check for Paralyze.

Damage is no problem

 

1d20 + 6 = 8

Paralyze is! I'll buy off that effect with a HP for now, let's not end this already :D So, +1HP for Rosethorn

The Scary Thing attacks Jann, using it's trade-offs to reduce it's Defense by 3 and add 3 DC!

1d20 + 9 = 25

That hits, so that's a DC 30 Save for Jann!

 

1d20 + 6 = 9

Ouch, reroll!

1d20 + 6 = 10, upped to 20 due to re-roll

Ouch, he's Staggered already. And Dazed.

Now, Knockback!

Total Knockback is 22, -3 from Jann, so that's 19. That is .... 1 MILLION FEET

I hope I screwed up calculations, because wow. Let's just say he hits a wall, and have him save against that. Let's give the wall a Toughness of 8, so a DC 23

 

1d20 + 6 = 14

Well, it's only 9, so he's not completely ouf of combat yet.

The Scary Thing does not move or act!

Jann's gonna throw his weapon! Accurate Attack for +2 Attack/-2 Damage

1d20 + 9 = 14

And misses anyways!

And then, he'll Quick Draw his quarterstaff, giving him an actual weapon!

Having his quarterstaff means he can also use Instant Up, so he's no longer prone.

Rosethorn once again resorts to whipping it.

 

Result: 15. Even with the Slowed state I don't think that would be enough to hit it.

Reroll: 16+10 for the reroll = 26 

 

Same DCs, fail the will save and Fire Monster is paralysed
