Raveled Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Chrome's RADAR kept him abreast of the fight even as he traded blows and ducked punches with the gorilla. He noticed when one of the baddies on the ground broke off her attack and started booking it for the aircraft. He knew that it was important to keep the bad guys from breaking their hole in the side of the plane, but he also knew that he couldn't let any of the bad guys get to the doors. The whole fight would be for nothing if someone got inside and to the President. The teen jumped away from the gorilla, and in mid-air jet exhausts began to poke out of his back and feet. There was a short hum and then he was zooming across the tarmac, directly at the psychic. "Bear hug!" he shouted as he impact with the woman, wrapping his shining limbs around her. "Before you get on this flight, there are some questions we should ask," he said to her, pinning her arms to her side. "Did you pack your own bags?"
Avenger Assembled Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 When the dust cleared, Air Force One had taken some heavy damage - an engine was on fire (thanks to Firebreather) and a good-sized hole was missing from the plane's flank. But the plane itself had survived - and the villains attacking it had all been driven off or taken into custody. Primal and Mind-Knight were both down, the former in Argonaut's custody and the latter in Miracle Girl's, while Firebreather and Electroman had made their escape with the latter carrying the former. "This isn't over!" the fire-breathing leader of the Chapter Zero group shouted. "We _will_ bring down the President! No gods! No masters!" And with that they were off, speeding away faster than the fliers in the group of heroes could catch them, and probably faster than the jets that had scrambled by now for pursuit. And then it was done - the gunfire and explosions had stopped, the villains had made their escape, and the heroes (and their prisoners) had a chance to catch their breath on the runway in the shadow of Air Force One. Their work wasn't done, though, the plane itself was looking battered (though unbroken) and the base MPs who'd been fighting alongside them had taken the explosions, batterings, and fireballs that came with war against metahuman opponents.
Raveled Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Chrome kept up on his toes, swiveling his head even as his RADAR assured him that the bad guys had run off. It took him a few seconds to believe it, but even without thunderbolts or fireblasts coming in the situation was still precarious. Air Force One was on fire and almost falling apart, which lead to a deadly situation for anyone on-board. "Someone has to get the President out!" He leapt for the airplane, landing near one of the doors. He pinged the aircraft with his personal radio, talking aloud as he communicated with them. "Hey in there, the bad guys are beating feet! But maybe you want to the get the President out of there, anyway, because there's kind of a fire on one wing and I don't think that's very safe to stand by." He winced, realizing how thin that story was. "Pretty please? I promise I'm not a bad guy myself."
TheRedGuy Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 It had been a tough fight, but in the end, the heroes were triumphant. Disgusting, Aníbal thought as the pair of would-be assassins fled the scene, leaving two of their comrades behind on the battlefield. It seemed Chapter Zero didn't put too much stock in loyalty to one's own. Maybe that was another "false ideology" to overcome? The ape and the mentalist remained in custody, and the fact their team-mates left them for dead would surely help during the ensuing interrogation. There was, however, no time for patting oneself on the back just yet. They still had to deal with the aftermath of the battle. Aníbal spotted the burning engine and extended his hand, focusing his powers to create a pocket of vacuum that would hopefully starve the fire out.
Avenger Assembled Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 There was a lot of work to do with the battle over - securing the prisoners, offering first aid to the wounded, working on cleaning up after the battle. General Bradley came out himself to offer personal congratulations to the heroes who'd saved the day, shaking hands firmly with everyone, even winking at Miracle Girl in a strange moment the others didn't quite catch. By the time the wounded had been taken to the base hospital and the prisoners secured in the base prison (heavily under guard and partially sedated - having been brought there still struggling by the superheroes), almost an hour had gone by - an hour in which evidently much had been happening inside the plane. As they gathered together on the runway to talk, the plane's airstairs deployed from the rear. First came a group of harried-looking Secret Service agents who scanned the perimeter, weapons out but not pointed, then called up "All clear!" A moment later, a familiar man stepped out and began descending the stairs, in the company of more Secret Service agents and staffers - a big, bluff man who had the build of a football player turning to fat, his trademark smile and cheery demeanor looking considerably subdued by these circumstances. It was the President of the United States! "Are y'all all right?" he asked seriously, raising his voice just a little over the machinery and movement all around them in the middle of the ongoing cleanup effort. "I saw some of you take some good licks just now."
Heritage Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 After making sure that her prisoner was secure, Casey then turned her efforts towards aiding the injured; interestingly, this included the two prisoners as well! This was something she started during a mission with the aquatic hero Leviathan, and though it led to the occasional raised eyebrow, she felt it was the right thing to do. Her first aid skills weren't at professional level, but she new her way around bruises and lacerations, and her x-ray vision let her know if there was a break. She'd pretty well exhausted her kit by the time the stairs descended from the back of Air Force One, so she flew over to stand at attention for the most powerful man on the planet. "We hit harder, Mr. President, and that's what matters," stated Miracle Girl, standing ramrod straight with her arms behind her back. "It's an honor to meet you, sir."
